Women’s
 health
psychology

While I welcome clients from all walks of life, I have a particular interest in women’s health psychology. I’m one of a small group of NZ psychologists specialising in menopause, perimenopause, infertility, and gynaecological/endocrinological issues.

With a blend of professional and personal experience, I’m uniquely placed to work with the often complex mix of factors impacting women during these profound periods of change.

Perimenopause
and menopause counselling

Womens’ mental health and cognitive function can be impacted by a variety of factors during the peri/menopausal transition. In addition to hormonal fluctuations, there are often significant life shifts involved around this time – children leaving home, parents becoming dependents, new health challenges, bereavement, relationship stress. It’s a time of change, and often a time of grief and vulnerability as we lose far more than oestrogen.

While hormone replacement therapy (HRT) can be essential in alleviating anxiety and low mood, many people find that it isn’t enough. I can work with you to manage your psychological wellbeing using lifestyle changes, psychological skills, and vital neuroscience insights.

Using the EMBERS Menopause CBT model, I offer:

  • Experience in a range of evidence-based therapies including CBT, positive psychology, neuroscience and behavioural science.

  • General recommendations on nutrition, gut health, movement and stress.

  • Input on whether HRT or changes to existing HRT regimes may be beneficial.

  • Trusted referrals for HRT prescribing and specialist input.

  • Thoughtful, compassionate treatment that’s both comprehensive and personally relevant.

Fertility
and infertility counselling

The psychological challenges associated with infertility are well-documented but remain deeply isolating and confusing to navigate. Complex emotions, impossible decisions, longing, shame, helplessness and the agony of uncertainty are common themes, which powerfully impact relationships and day-to-day functioning.

I have previously worked for Fertility Associates, and continue to support individuals and couples impacted by fertility issues of all kinds, including pregnancy loss and secondary infertility.
